PoolTransit — Terms of Service

By using PoolTransit you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy.

1. What PoolTransit is (and isn't)

PoolTransit is an introduction service that helps commuters find each other to share a commute ride between fixed stops and split the fare among themselves, one-to-one or in a small group of up to four (our Line Up mode).

We only introduce commuters. We do not provide, operate, or arrange transport; we do not employ or dispatch drivers; and we do not process, hold, or transfer any payments. Any ride and any payment are directly between you, your co-riders, and the transport provider you choose.

2. Eligibility

You must be 18 or older. You sign in without a password — a one-time code sent to your phone via WhatsApp (or SMS); "Continue with Google" is also offered during our testing phase. Sign-up is open. You are responsible for keeping your login secure.

3. Your responsibilities & acceptable use

• Provide accurate profile information; meet at the agreed stop; be punctual.
• Show up when you're matched. You can leave freely before a match, but repeated no-shows that co-riders report may lead to a temporary, automatically expiring restriction from that mode.
• Do not harass, threaten, or endanger others, or use the service unlawfully or abusively.
• "Find each other" location sharing is mutual, optional, works only near the stop, is never stored, and stops when you close the screen, leave the ride, or a short time limit is reached. Do not use it to follow, surveil, harass, or record anyone.

We provide Block and Report tools and may suspend or remove accounts that violate these Terms or endanger others.

4. Community Chat (public group chat)

PoolTransit may offer an optional Community Chat — a public, city-wide group chat where signed-in members talk under a pseudonymous handle (a nickname such as "Rider_1234", not your real name). If you use it:

• It is a public space. Anything you post — your handle, messages, and reactions — is visible to other signed-in members in your city. Treat it as public and do not share private information, yours or anyone else's (phone numbers, addresses, precise location, UPI IDs, photos of other people, etc.).
• Do not post unlawful, harassing, hateful, threatening, defamatory, obscene, sexually explicit, misleading, infringing, or spam content, impersonate anyone, or post anything that violates another person's rights or India's Information Technology Rules, 2021.
• You are responsible for what you post. You keep ownership of your content and grant PoolTransit a non-exclusive licence to host and display it within the service so the chat works.
• Messages are temporary — the Community Chat is cleared automatically on a regular schedule (about weekly); we do not keep it as a long-term record.
• Moderation. We provide in-chat Report and Block tools and may hide or remove content, apply slow-mode, and impose a temporary, automatically expiring restriction on posting for anyone who breaks these rules; serious or repeated abuse may lead to account suspension.
• Grievances / content takedown. To report content or raise a complaint, use the in-app Report tool or contact our Grievance Officer at [email protected]. We act on valid reports as required by India's Information Technology Rules, 2021.

5. Rides, fares, and safety

• A match is only an introduction; whether to travel together is your decision.
• Fare split is an informational calculation with a hand-off to your own UPI app. We do not verify, guarantee, or settle payments; "marked paid" is a self-report, not confirmation by us.
• You are responsible for your own safety. Meeting and travelling with other commuters is at your own discretion and risk.

6. No custody of funds

PoolTransit never collects, holds, or remits money and is not a payment system, payment aggregator, or transport aggregator.

7. Founding Members Program (optional)

We may offer a Founding Members Program recognising early users who invite friends. It involves no money of any kind; perks are app features and early access offered at our discretion, and we may change, pause, or end it at any time. Full rules: Founding Members Terms.

8. Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, PoolTransit is not liable for the conduct of any user or co-rider, for content posted by users (including in Community Chat), for any ride, payment, loss, injury, or dispute between users, or for indirect or consequential damages. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.

9. Termination

You may delete your account at any time (Profile → Delete my account). We may suspend or terminate access for breach of these Terms or to protect users, including a temporary, automatically expiring restriction after corroborated no-show reports or Community Chat violations.

10. Changes

We may update these Terms; continued use after an update means you accept it.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India; courts at Mumbai, Maharashtra have jurisdiction.
